The SUV cargo number that matters when every row is occupied.
Maximum cargo capacity assumes seats are folded. For a family using all three rows, that headline can describe nearly five times the luggage room actually available.
Behind-third-row cargo as a share of maximum cargo, across five selected 2026 luxury SUV variants. Aiso calculation from manufacturer specifications. This is a small purposive sample, not a market average.
Five variants, one explicitly defined comparison
We paired the published behind-third-row volume with the maximum volume for each vehicle. Units are cubic feet. The percentage is behind-third-row volume ÷ maximum volume × 100, rounded to one decimal place.
| Vehicle | Behind row 3 | Maximum | Share remaining | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 Lexus TX | 20.2 | 97 | 20.8% | Manufacturer |
| 2026 Lincoln Navigator | 21.6 | 107 | 20.2% | Manufacturer |
| 2026 Lincoln Navigator L | 36.1 | 121.6 | 29.7% | Manufacturer |
| 2026 Cadillac Escalade | 25.5 | 120.5 | 21.2% | Manufacturer |
| 2026 Cadillac Escalade ESV | 41.5 | 142.2 | 29.2% | Manufacturer |

What the difference means for a shortlist
The Navigator L adds 14.5 cubic feet behind the third row versus the standard Navigator: 67.1% more using the standard model as the denominator. The Escalade ESV adds 16.0 cubic feet over the Escalade: 62.7% more. These are calculations from the published figures, not measured luggage tests.
The useful question is therefore “How much space remains with my passengers seated?” A maximum-volume ranking answers a different question. A larger number alone does not establish comfort, safety, child-seat fit or overall value.
What AI answers should make explicit
- The US model year and exact body variant.
- Whether the third row is upright, folded or in a special seat position.
- The original source, its date and the units.
- Which claims are manufacturer specifications, editorial judgments or calculations.

Method and limitations
We selected three premium SUV model families with accessible US manufacturer figures, retaining extended-body variants separately. Selection was not random. Cross-brand measurement methods, trim and seat positions can differ. Lincoln also publishes full-upright seat figures; this table uses its standard-position figures. No vehicles were road-tested, and no luggage or child-seat fit was physically measured. Confirm the exact configuration and bring your own luggage to a test drive.
